ASBESTOS SERVICES
Federal and State regulations require asbestos inspections in public and commercial buildings prior to any renovation or demolition work. OSHA requires that building and facility owners determine the presence, location, and quantity of asbestos-containing materials (ACM) and/or presumed asbestos-containing materials (PACM) at the work site. Employers and building owners are to exercise due diligence in complying with these requirements to inform employers and employees about the presence and location of ACM and PACM.
WTR has a combined 20 years of experience in asbestos related projects. Within those 20 years over 1000 asbestos abatement and demolition projects have been successfully completed all over the Western United States - Our experienced project managers can foresee and eliminate environmental issues prior to the projects being bid and can provide plans and specifications to be included in architectural specifications or be used as a stand alone bid document for the Owner. WTR can also provide environmental specifications with mechanical and electrical contract documents if we happen to be the mechanical and electrical engineer for the project.
WTR Consulting Engineers staff are trained and qualified to assist with the following services:
- Building Inspections
- Abatement Project Design--To review a list of Clients
- Abatement Project Management and Oversight
- Abatement Cost Estimating
- Air Monitoring
- Training & Awareness Education
- O&M Programs
WORK PLACE HAZARDS
Identifying hazards is an ongoing process in any workplace environment. Some of these hazards are new and some, which have always existed, are just now being identified. Regulatory requirements requiring employers to address these issues are always increasing, not to mention growing employee awareness and pressure to confront these issues. The hazards can be chemical, physical, or biological. Some of the more common problems involve radon, asbestos, lead, formaldehyde, airborne microbes (mold) and noise. These problems can adversely affect your employees’ health and present a clear liability for business if not identified, managed or eliminated.
WTR Consulting Engineers staff is prepared to assist with the following services:
- Personal and Area Air Sampling
- Noise Measurements
- Safety and O&M Procedures
- Hazard Communications Programs
- Personal Protective Equipment Recommendations
Indoor Air Quality is becoming more of a concern for employers all the time. Air pollutants have always existed but because building construction methods have reduced the introduction of fresh air in order to conserve energy these pollutants now create a situation referred to as “sick building syndrome”.
Building design, including inadequate air exchange, may lead to the build-up or concentration of indoor air pollutants such as cleaning compound fumes, carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, nitrogen dioxide, formaldehyde and radon. WTR Consulting Engineers uses a variety of techniques to determine the source of the pollutants and design a solution. Often times WTR Consulting Engineers can identify potential causes for poor indoor air quality and provide recommendations to correct potential problems without costly air sampling and/or laboratory analysis. In many instances improper building ventilation may be the cause. Sometimes a complete environmental survey is required. Our environmental scientists are experienced at assessing indoor air quality and recommending economical mitigation solutions.
During new construction or remodeling, WTR Consulting Engineers can “design in” good air quality. From heating, ventilation and air-conditioning (HVAC) design specifications to selection of building materials and furnishings, we anticipate problems and provide experienced guidance. This tends to reduce problems and is a positive selling point for buyers and/or tenants.
CLANDESTINE (METH) DRUG LABS
The majority of clandestine drug labs manufacture methamphetamine (meth). These labs are set up in motels, houses, apartments, storage units, and vehicles. Hazardous chemicals are used which can contaminate structural materials, furnishings, wastewater systems and soils. Proper testing and subsequent decontamination is necessary to reduce the public health risks of injuries and hazardous exposures associated with clandestine drug labs. Drugs that can be used to manufacture meth can be bought over the counter at local stores, these drugs are mixed with other common ingredients to make meth.
To assist local authorities and state agencies, WTR is trained in accordance with Montana Department of Environmental Quality (MDEQ) standards. WTR provides all consulting, testing and clean-up in accordance with MDEQ Standards. WTR will provide upon request, all professional liability and contractor insurances required and consulting and testing.
WTR has been providing these services since 1999. We have an extensive knowledge base, high tech scientific equipment, and the experience necessary to provide these services in a professional manner. Our mission is to provide these services at a much lower cost by using our experience and skills to avoid any costly mistakes that other inexperienced contractors may overlook.
